Decordova-Reid isn't a bad player; I think he'd be a decent option on the left. Surprised he's as old as that, though.

I honestly believe that the issue with Branthwaite is how much better he is than Maguire. Southgate was a good centre-back himself. He knows what he's seeing in training.

Alli and Gomes haven't even left yet, never mind been replaced for cheap. Coady and Mina were replaced by Branthwaite, who was already here before Thelwell arrived.

I'm not sure they'll be happy to live with it when the fees start coming due, nor would I be surprised to see all three of Thelwell's forward purchases going out on loan next season. I just hope he doesn't waste another chunk of the summer chasing players he can't afford this year.

Which should have been a red flag in and of itself. It's just more short-term thinking, kicking the can down the road and hoping things somehow work themselves out. As much as it was frustrating at the time - and he was really just covering for Kenwright while taking the plaudits for doing well...

For a club in Everton's position, if the choice is £25m for Beto (regardless of when it has to be paid) or nobody, you go with nobody. Virtually any forward who went out on loan or was available on a Bosman would have been better. He and Maupay are yet more albatrosses around the club's neck...

In my time, Jagielka and Lescott has been the best pairing by a good distance. I wasn't too sure about Jagielka at first, mainly due to his height and distribution, but he's the best individual defender I've seen here.

He's already on far more money than he's worth to a serious club, but Everton isn't a serious club. Pay him.

Chermiti is young enough to escape proper scrutiny, but Beto is 26 and can't control the ball.

You'd think 20+ years of Kenwright lying to their faces would have made some Blues a bit more sceptical when it comes to believing a word that comes out of this club.

He's doing fine under circumstances that will hopefully change. Once that happens, he won't be long for the job.
