    Forgotten Everton Songs

It's defo the case that Everton supporters of the 50s and 60s were way more inventive and prolific as song writers than those that went after. We have some amazing songs and we they should be unearthed, archived an cherished.

    Forgotten Everton Songs

Brilliant find. The club should be compiling all these songs. By the way, the place name before Huyton is driving me mad. I think it may begin with B rather than P for park though?

    Forgotten Everton Songs

I once got told from an uncle that the St Edwards school brass band would play songs at HT in the 40s and 50s. 🤷‍♂️

    So who will it be?

My opposition was to him signing for us without any funds to get players in we needed to get to survive. It was not opposition to him as a manager and his tactics.

The tale of legendary Everton manager Harry Catterick:

It was before my time but I think the consensus at the time was that they relatively underachieved. They didn't turn up for the '68 Cup final, and they probably should have won the title after 1970...and got further in the '71 EC. The sale of Ball by Catterick and his own ill health appears to...

    So who will it be?

No I didn't. I handed him support. And when it was looking bleak for us before we went on that late run I merely stated that if we needed to get shut of him to save the club then we should do that.

    So who will it be?

I'm always positive about Everton. Criticism of 💩 players is part of wanting Everton to be great again.

    So who will it be?

The stadium is almost in place. Any new owner of this club - if Moshiri hadn't have got the thing going - would have been required as a matter of urgency to build one; and they'd have had that headache of planning process, acceptance, sourcing and building ahead of them. Half a decade's worth of...

    So who will it be?

That's the partial reality...which is my point. Investors see the upside...and they really don't have to create one really, do they?

    So who will it be?

Nonsense. Look our record in the top flight; look at who we share as rivals the north west of England with - the cradle and hub of British football; look at that stadium being completed. Recognise what we have. It's easy to be negative and point at debt.

    So who will it be?

I said once we got safe we'd get ourselves sorted out. The first step was to get rid of the 777 plague. Now we're able to breathe again and Moshiri can open the doors to other investors. I have no time for the pessimists who mutter about administration or no interest in the club. They're no...

    New Everton Stadium Discussion

That's brilliant that mate. Thanks a lot. What an achievement. We hand the club a lot of stick, and rightly so, but this has been a - literally - monumental effort they've almost pulled off and without public cash...and there really should have been. Makes me even more incensed that we're...

    Whatever the hell you like

Yes, spot on that mate. We just need to show any buyer that it wont be possible to snap us up in administration, and that depends on being able to keep the club going. The club has a lot of issues, but it also has a great future. Interested parties will see that.

    Whatever the hell you like

I suspect, now that he now knows his ambitions to get significant money back for his shares is at an end, interested buyers of the club looking to take on the debt will materialise now.

...so did Maguire. "Phone calls at the dead of night" Very film noir. An utter spoof of a man.

    Whatever the hell you like

Absolutely spot on mate. I said a while back Maguire should be viewed as part of the entertainment industry rather than a serious football industry commentator. With his comedian partner he sells a podcast, and flogs books as a spin off of the podcast, to boost his earnings from academia. He's...
