Everton manager David Moyes has twice in the past attempted to sign the Huyton-born England midfielder, most recently confirming attempts to sign Joey Barton in January 2007, and when contract talks between Barton and Newcastle broke down this week, it seemed inevitable we´d be linked with the lifelong Everton supporter.
