Paddy’s Preview: Man Utd vs Everton

Everton travel to Old Trafford on Sunday looking to do the double against Manchester United and rumour has it that Manchester fears a power shortage if Sir Alex Ferguson gets the hairdryer treatment out.

The Toffees pulled off a comeback not seen since the days of Lazarus when scoring twice in the last seven minutes to draw 4-4 in this fixture last season to dent United’s title hopes and a repeat of the scoreline is 225/1 with Paddy Power.

David Moyes side – 9/2 to take all three points – are unbeaten in their last five Barclays Premier League games and haven’t lost on the road in their last seven games in all competitions – winning four.

Goals from Nikica Jelavic (2), Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar earning a share of the spoils in that eight-goal extravaganza and Jelavic to opening the scoring Everton to draw 4-4 again is 850/1 with the online firm in the Scorecast betting.

Everton to win and 3 or 4 total goals in the match is 9/1 while six or more goals is 15/2 and over 4.5 goals is trading at 7/2.

And to prove that comeback was no fluke the Toffees did the Red Devils 1-0 in their opening game of this campaign with Marouane Fellaini doing the damage.

Ferguson’s bad-tempered claim afterwards that all Everton did was “lump the ball forward” to Fellaini was well wide of the mar.

The Belgian international is 12/5 to add to his 10 league goals in Sunday’s live game or 7/2 to score first for his side as he looks for his third goal in three games against United.

Paddy Power also make Everton’s leading striker an 11/2 shot to score from outside the box over 90 minutes.

Fellaini’s compatriot Kevin Mirallas played 45 minutes for Belgian mid-week and is keen to join in the action on Sunday as he battles back to full fitness.

“Manchester United on Sunday is a massive occasion for us and will be a good test to see exactly where we are as a team,” he said.

“We’re a very good side and have a very good squad. Every weekend’s difficult but it’s a good test for us.”

Croatian international Jelavic gave David Moyes’ side the lead at Old Trafford last season and can be backed at 8/1 with Paddy Power to give the visitors the lead again in a game where Everton are 13/8 to score first.

The Toffees added another three goals in the second-half fight-back that day and are 4/1 with Paddy Power to score in both halves.

Jelavic is 9/1 in Paddy Power’s match specials to score with a header for the visitors over the 90 minutes.
