A ‘Judas’ is defined as an individual who sells out their family or friends for their own personal gain or benefit. Everton FC is a family; it’s a team that goes beyond the team on the pitch. So when someone turns their back on the family, Toffees feel more betrayed than any other club.

There’s a special place in hell for those who make the short trip of betrayal from Goodison to Anfield. And for 41 years no one dared attempt it.

That was until the Summer of 2000, when Nick Barmby broke the decades long tradition and signed for Gerard Houllier’s Liverpool for £6 million.

Enjoying 132 appearances and 24 goals for the Toffees, Barmby made a significant impact. But when pen was put to red paper it all might as well been for nothing.

Having a decent first season was overshadowed by an injury plagued second and he was eventually sold to Leeds in 2002 for half the price the Kop paid. Karmaby.
