[tps_title]1. Neville Southall[/tps_title]
The greatest Everton player of all time? Well, maybe. What can’t be disputed is, at his best, which was most of the time throughout the 1980s, Neville Southall was the best goalkeeper in the world.
Southall made more appearances for the club than anybody else, passing Ted Sagar’s tally of 432 League games in a match at home to Coventry City in October 1994. In his 751 Everton appearances, Southall won two league titles, two FA Cups, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, four Charity Shields and was awarded the 1985 ‘Footballer of the Year’ award. Oh, he also scored once (in a penalty shoot-out to settle a Full Members Cup tie against Charlton Athletic).
An actual, living legend.
