Muhamed Besic has revealed he is hitting the gym so he is not out-muscled in the tough old world of the Premier League.
Last July’s, £4m signing from Ferencvaros says that he is too “skinny”and picked English football as the place to toughen up.
He said: “I knew it was a physical game here that is very fast and I wanted to come here as I felt I would learn more here than anywhere else.
“I knew it would develop my future, to play in England. That said, I am still a little bit skinny at the moment so it will take time with my gym programme to get completely up to speed with that side of the game.”
The midfielder who has been praised by Evertonians recently for his tough tackling revealed that he hasn’t always been that type of player.
“When I was younger I didn’t really .like to tackle. It only started around two years ago that I needed to tackle more. I was always an easy, calm player.
“Tackling didn’t come naturally to me. I was always trying to take the ball without contact.”
