Roberto Martinez has acknowledged that the 2015/16 season is a big one for Ross Barkley.
Martinez: “It’s a big season for him
“Two seasons ago he was terrific; last season, off the back of a World Cup, was more challenging – but he never shied away from that challenge. And we are stronger when he is in the dressing room.”
Martinez reckons Barkley will be entering the season in form. “The goal (vs Arsenal) defined him. To beat a world-class keeper from that distance with his weaker foot, it tells you what he has.
“We all know how special Ross is. In terms of English players, we have got something quite unique. He wants to learn, get new footballing concepts in terms of his position and in terms of ability you aren’t going to get a better technical player”.
