Ronald Koeman will allow Gerard Deulofeu to seek first team football away from Goodison Park this month and when asked about the future of Phil Jagielka Koeman said: “I don’t know. It’s all about if there are offers for Jags”
Koeman: “I spoke to Geri and it’s a difficult situation for the player. If he finds a solution to go and to get game time then Okay it’s no problem.
“But the final decision is by the board of the club to accept an agreement or not.
“I did not have any call from the chairman that he has agreed anything for Deulofeu. It’s always tough for a player when he’s not really part of the team and doesn’t get a lot of minutes.
“But that’s the competition we have in the team. You always have to look at first, what’s best for the club and second, what’s best for the plaer.
“In Geri’s situation the best is that he finds game time somewhere.”
Asked about possibility that Jagielka could leave Goodison during this transfer window, Koeman said: “I don’t know. It’s all about if there are offers for Jags.
“In the last few weeks he hasn’t started but it’s important because he’s the captain of the team.
“But in general if players are not happy we speak to them and find a solution. What’s the best for the club and then for the player.
“He is not happy because he is not starting. That’s a good signal. What you need to do as a player is fight and make it difficult for the manager.”
