Everton extended their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games but will be disappointed to leave the Riverside without three points against a resolute Middlesbrough.
Romelu Lukaku went closest for Everton in the first half but Victor Valdes rolled back the years and saved superbly.
After the interval, Boro captain Ben Gibson saw his header cleared off the line by Leighton Baines, before Valdes made another excellent stop to deny Ademola Lookman.
Joel Robles produced a stunning save to deny Rudy Gestede late on as the game fizzled out to a 0-0.

Everton started well. As the snow and rain and sleet fell, both came back into it a bit. Robles made some good saves and Lukaku nearly scored but for a good stop by Valdes.
Lookman looked lively too. 0-0 at the break.
