Spurs v Everton preview

Written by Ashtonian

Well that was a nice result again on Saturday? We beat Moyes again and the customary Defoe goal against us hit the woodwork instead. Unbeaten in 9 now for the Blues, stretches back to December against them lot. How is that for a reaction from Koeman and the players?

This Sunday sees us take on the old adversaries Tottenham Hotspur. Currently second in the league, they have a faint title hope to cling to, we have a steam roller of momentum ready to flatten anyone in front of us. Could we end up 2 points behind the Kopites after being 14 behind them only a few weeks ago? It could make this season exciting again, which is always a plus when we have no cup to pray for.

Little bit of triva, Everton have recorded the most 0-0s against Spurs in the premier league era, Pochettino’s first game in England? A 0-0 against us. So throw a few quid on it ending up goalless.

Tottenham will be going into the game with an in form Kane, another hat trick at the weekend keeps the jarg lukaku in check with the goal scoring charts . They don’t really have too many injury worries ahead of the game. Lamela seems to be out, Vertonghen and Rose injured with Alderwiereld a slight doubt. Other than that they can throw out a pretty strong team against us, but so did city and look how that went for them. Danger men for them will be Eriksen and Ali, we need to have Schneiderlin and Gueye on form to deal with those two so no worries there.

As for Everton? No new injury troubles for us after Saturday’s game thankfully so looks like we will go into the game with a similar line up. I could imagine we will drop Davies for Barry or McCarthy and look to contain their attacking midfield whilst isolating Kane up front. Koeman has got it right so far recently, so have faith we can do it again.

After the league cup result, Europe has got a little bit closer for us, so the more points and the more pressure on the teams above us is what we need. 6th is Guaranteed Europe now, so we only have to overtake one of them. A win Sunday, and who knows? We all hoped United brought Europe closer to us but it is most certainly in our hands to get it now. Let us win one for the golden vison, We remember him as a legend.

And if you know, your history!
