Romelu Lukaku has turned down Everton’s offer of a new contract – the most lucrative contract offer in the club’s history.
The 23-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola had insisted Lukaku would put pen to paper on lucrative new terms and claimed he had agreed “99.9%” of the deal which would have made him the best paid player in the club’s history. Raiola followed up his comments by insisting Lukaku would sign a new deal.
However, the publicity of Raiola’s comments now appear to have been a tactic to force Everton’s hands to accept terms of a deal with release clauses Everton were unwilling to accept.
