Marco Silva reckons Everton had to score more from the chances they created in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham.
Silva said: “We didn’t perform on a level to win this match, it is clear and I have told our players as well, at this level you cannot make the mistakes we made.
“When you create chances like we did you have to score.
“Until the moment they score, we started well, good shape, good intensity and good balance in many moments and good combinations but after our first mistake we didn’t react like we should react and they score and it looks like the game has changed completely. It looks like we have lost out confidence in that moment.
“We created a chance to make it 1-1 but they scored a second goal and we changed our formation before half-time because I wanted to give our squad a signal. We scored to make it 2-1 but in the second-half, even without a good performance and playing more with our heart and mind, they create three or four chances and score three goals and we create four or five clear chances and score just one goal.
“We created enough chances to achieve a different result.
“We need to improve many, many things but even if we achieve a good result today I would tell you the same.
“We have to improve more. This is a big lesson for us what has happened here this afternoon. We have to realise, in some moments, what we have to do and to be sure because even without pressure we made mistakes this afternoon, when you don’t expect mistakes.
“It is something about our focus in the really important moments of the game.”
