West Ham United v Everton

Marco Silva’s troops will be on a revenge mission when they travel to the London Stadium this weekend. 

The Blues’ Portuguese chief suffered his first defeat as Everton manager at the hands of West Ham so he above all will be desperate to set the record straight. 

The Hammers taught the Toffees a footballing lesson at Goodison, taking all three points with a 3-1 win in September.

Since then, both sides have suffered massive spells of inconsistency.

The Toffees and the Hammers appointed new managers before the start of the season so this campaign has proved to be a difficult one, with Silva and Manuel Pellegrini trying to get the best out of their players whilst still experimenting. 

West Ham have lost five out of their last 10 games, winning three. 

Everton have also won just three games in their last ten, but the Blues have lost six in that time. 

If either side were to catch Wolves in seventh then they need to be winning this fixture. 

Before a ball is kicked in the Premier League this weekend West Ham are ninth, two points and two places better off than Everton in 11^th. 

Both teams come into this one on the back of impressive performances before the international break.

The hosts pulled off a tremendous comeback in this last outing, after going 1-0 up the Hammers fell to bits and found themselves 3-1 down to basement club Huddersfield.

But a late surge accompanied by goals from Angelo Ogbonna and two from Javier Hernandez gave West Ham all three points. 

Everton professionally dealt with a struggling Chelsea outfit and ran out 2-0 winners thanks to Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurddson. 

The Blues are yet to taste victory in the London Stadium since it’s opening as a football ground, playing out two draws before David Moyes masterminded his first win over his former club on the final day of the 17/18 season. 

Sam Allardyce’s last game in charge of Everton finished 3-1 to the hosts. 

Team news — 

West Ham will be without Andy Carroll, Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko. 

Samir Nasri, Winston Reid and Jack Wilshere are doubtful. 

Yerry Mina was injured whilst playing for Colombia so Kurt Zouma is likely to return after sitting out against his parent club last time out. 

Andre Gomes, Phil Jagielka, Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines should all be fit for the clash. 

Man in the middle — 

Paul Tierney will be in charge of the cards for this one. This will be his third Everton game of the season after he officiated the Blues’ 1-0 win over Cardiff and the 6-2 thrashing at the hands of Spurs. 

In 26 games this season he has shown 83 yellows and one red.
