‘I feel amazing’: 40-goal forward now breaks silence following Everton transfer rumours

Kenyan forward Michael Olunga has now broken his silence following transfer rumours linking him with a move to Everton.

The 29-year-old, who scored 40 goals for Qatari domestic double winners Al-Dulhail last season, has said he feels ‘amazing’ after such a prolific campaign, but insists that he cannot ‘say so much’ about his immediate future.

Olunga’s current deal expires this month, meaning Everton could recruit the Kenyan, who was recently spoken about at Finch Farm, as a potential signing this summer.

Indeed, as reported via the Liverpool Echo, Olunga said: “I can’t say so much because now at the end of the season for me, I take it as a good time to relax after a hard season for us in Qatar.

It was fantastic for me to win three top scorers (titles) in three competitions, I feel amazing, I feel I really did a good job.

But normally I don’t like to speculate about things, I can only control what is in my jurisdiction, which is playing football.”

Olunga is too much of a gamble for an Everton side that must guarantee goals

The journeyman centre-forward, who has played in leagues across the world, was reportedly spoken about at Everton as Sean Dyche looks to strengthen their attacking options.

A relative unknown, Michael Olunga is unlikely to be the first name that springs to mind for Everton fans this summer when thinking of potential recruits, and though a 40-goal-season is impressive, he would be hard-pushed to repeat such a return in the Premier League.

However, one thing is for sure, Everton are likely to be in the market for free transfers and loan deals this summer with the club’s financial uncertainty still inhibiting our spending power.

In what is likely to be the most important transfer window of our recent history, the recruitment this summer must be spot on and a gamble on an unknown 29-year-old is unlikely to be the answer.
