‘Most intimidating’: Everton architect Dan Meis now responds to claims about stadium atmosphere

Everton Stadium architect Dan Meis has confidently claimed that the new stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock will be hugely intimidating for opposition teams.

Meis’ statement comes off the back of claims made by Jermaine Pennant, who stated on talkSPORT’s Youtube Account that the new stadium might lack the hostility players currently face at Goodison Park.

Pennant said: “Will that (hostility) be taken away now with this new stadium, is that a little bit of a worry, going into a stadium that’s not got those roots there, the history behind it? Now it’s more of a neutral kind of ground.”

However, Dan Meis has quickly responded via his Twitter account and confidently claims that Everton’s new stadium will be ‘one of the most intimidating grounds in the Premier League’.

Indeed, Dan Meis said: “I am going to go on record that Bramley Moore will quickly gain recognition as one of the most intimidating grounds in the Premier League.

Just look at the proximity to the pitch, and how close the roof is to the seating, compared to say Emirates. It will be deafening…”

Deafening atmosphere promised by Meis will be delivered by Everton fans

With news emerging from interim Chief Executive Officer Colin Chong that the 52,888-seater stadium is ‘ahead of schedule’ to be completed by the end of 2024, fans can now see the ground’s skeleton rise out of the industrial northern docklands.

Whether or not the Toffees vacate Goodison Park midway through the 2024/25 season or wait until the following summer remains to be seen, with fans to be given the opportunity to vote on the timing of Everton’s ground move.

However, regardless of when the move takes place, there is no doubt that the intense and hostile Goodison Park atmosphere will be replicated at the Bramley-Moore.

Visually, the stadium already looks stunning and while there will of course be sadness at departing the club’s spiritual home in L4, the Blues will be relocating to a truly world class venue.

Dan Meis has done a sensational job, and no doubt the place will indeed be ‘deafening
