‘Oh my God’: Gary Neville left in awe after first glimpse of new Everton stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock

Gary Neville was audibly impressed when he saw Everton’s new stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock for the first time, as the development continues to gather pace.

The under-construction stadium already boats an impressive exterior and is sure to be a world class venue upon its completion.

Indeed, as reported by Everton last week, the unnamed ground at the Bramley-Moore Dock remains on schedule to open by the end of 2024, with the exact date for the club’s relocation yet to be determined.

However, despite being under-construction for a couple of years, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed he was unaware that building work had begun, though claimed the ground could make Everton ‘some force’.

During filming for The Overlap, Neville spots the development and states: “Oh my God! Is that Everton’s new stadium?

I didn’t even realise they had started building it. They are going to be some force in this city!”

With at least one more season left to play at Goodison Park, Everton’s spiritual home will continue to hold the record for hosting the most top-flight games of any stadium in England, for the time being at least.

It is hoped that the stadium at the Bramley-Moore will allow the club to increase its capacity to generate revenue, without compromising the hostile atmosphere Goodison Park is famed for, as reiterated by stadium architect Dan Meis.

With Jermaine Pennant claiming that the new stadium will have a negative impact on Everton’s atmosphere, Meis took to Twitter to defend the development, stating: “I am going to go on record that Bramley Moore will quickly gain recognition as one of the most intimidating grounds in the Premier League.

Just look at the proximity to the pitch, and how close the roof is to the seating, compared to say Emirates. It will be deafening…”

As the stadium rises above north Liverpool’s industrial heartland, lets hope Everton have a team worthy of playing in it by the time we relocate from Goodison Park.
