Everton forward Neal Maupay is now wanted by Serie A side Salernitana this summer, though prefer to sign the striker on loan.
The Frenchman arrived at Goodison Park last summer in a £15m deal with Brighton & Hove Albion but failed to adapt to life on Merseyside, scoring just one Premier League goal.
Indeed, Neal Maupay has been rumored with an exit after just one season with the Blues, and Serie A could prove to be his destination.
As per reports in Italian publication La Cotta di Salerno, Salernitana now want the Everton forward on loan this summer.
The Italian side were linked with a summer swoop for Maupay before his switch to Everton last year, however a move could be reignited ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Indeed, the 26-year-old’s agent recently confirmed that he would be interested in a move to Italy, stating via Tuttomercatoweb: “We had a strong negotiation with Salernitana, then he went to Everton. There has been the technical change, we are at the end of the season and we will see what to do.
He sees Serie A as a place to go, we will work to please him, there will probably be work for him to do in Italy.”
It hasn’t worked out for Neal Maupay at Everton and a move away from Goodison Park would seem to suit all parties, however a permanent transfer would be ideal, rather than a loan.
It remains to be seen exactly how much Sean Dyche will have to spend this summer and there is some serious investment required in his squad, particularly with regards to his attacking options.
Perhaps a loan with an obligation to buy would work in Everton’s favour, though such a move would help little in the short term as the Blues need investment now.
