Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is ready to quit Elland Road this summer, with Everton among the interested parties for his signature.
The ‘outstanding’ USA international, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, impressed during his debut Premier League campaign, despite Leeds United’s relegation.
Indeed, reports also state that the former RB Leipzig star may return to Germany this summer, with Bundesliga clubs also keeping tabs.
That is according to Football Insider, though if the Blues do sign the 24-year-old, he will be unavailable until around September through injury.
However, despite being out for the opening weeks of the season, Adams could be a shrewd buy for Sean Dyche as he begins his summer rebuild.
The youngest captain at last year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Adams was one of only two players under thirty to wear their nation’s armband, the other being Harry Kane at 29-years-old.
Such experience and leadership qualities at a young age cannot be underestimated and his international manager Gregg Berhalter was quick to highlight Adams’ influence during last year’s tournament.
Berhalter said: “When you start talking about the captain types … Tyler fits a very specific role. He’s the general, he’s the strategist. He’s the guy that goes out there and leads by example. When he talks, people listen.”
No doubt Everton could use a player with such attributes in the heart of midfield and the 24-year-old clearly has a high ceiling in terms of further development.
The Toffees could exploit Leeds United’s player exodus following their relegation to snap Adams up, though there is clearly stiff competition for his signature.
However, the USA star is very much a player built for a Sean Dyche side, so there’s no doubt he could continue his development at Goodison Park.
