Everton are interested in signing 23-year-old centre-half Oumar Solet this summer, but face competition from Newcastle United.
The Red Bull Salzburg defender who ‘wants to win everything’ admits that playing in the Premier League is one of his ambitions.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who also report that Serie A side Inter and Torino are tracking the French defender.
Indeed, a number of clubs across Europe seem to be chasing the young defender’s signature, though Premier League teams may have the edge as Solet himself admits that the English top-flight ‘excites’ him.
Solet said: “I have a lot of ambitions, to be honest. I’m just on my way – for sure the Premier League excites me a lot.
‘I feel it’s a league that I can perform in really well and it can bring me to the top. It’s probably the best league in the world. I feel if I have the chance it’s going to help make me become the top player I want to be.”
He continued: “I’m the type of guy who wants to win everything. I know individually what I can bring but I know how to support my team mates.
This is something I am really proud about. I still need to improve but I fee I’m in a good way of doing that.”
Oumar Solet could be suitable defensive replacement needed at Everton after Mina and Coady move on
With Yerry Mina departing following the expiry of his contract and the Toffees choosing not to make Conor Coady’s loan deal permanent, Everton need a new centre-half ahead of next season.
Indeed, versatile defender Mason Holgate has also been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer, however it could be a breakthrough season for young centre-half Jarrad Branthwaite after an impressive loan spell at PSV Eindhoven.
