Former Everton midfielder Tom Davies is now in talks with newly promoted Sheffield United ahead of a possible summer move.
The 25-year-old’s contract with the Toffees expired earlier this summer and despite being offered an extension by the club, Davies decided to seek first team football elsewhere.
Indeed, the academy graduate was linked with a move to Italian side AC Monza, who Everton hosted in a 2-2 draw played behind closed doors.
Championship side Cardiff City were also reportedly interested in securing Davies on a free transfer, though the Welsh club could not afford the 25-year-old’s wages.
However, Tom Davies could well be playing Premier League football once again this season, with Sheffield United looking to snap the midfielder up, as per Alan Myers.
Myers took to twitter to report that the Blades were interested in the free agent, tweeting: “Sheffield United in talks with former Everton midfielder Tom Davies about a move to Bramall Lane.”
Tom Davies departed Everton at the right time and could soon line-up against the Blues
Everton travel to Sheffield United next month and so could face their former midfielder should he agree a deal with the Blades.
Another player who left Everton as a free agent this summer Andros Townsend could also soon agree a move, with sides in Saudi Arabia and MLS interested in the 32-year-old.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: “Andros Townsend, attracting interest on the market as a free agent after parting ways with Everton in June.
MLS and Saudi clubs approached him over potential move but race remains open. One to watch.”
Townsend had a two-year spell at Goodison Park after moving to the Blues on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, though he suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in March 2022, ruling him out for 13 months.
