Everton are looking to bolster their striking options with a £12m bid for Scotland International Che Adams. According to reports by the BBC and elsewhere, the club face competition from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth amongst others
With a cautious approach being taken to the availability of Dominic Calvert Lewin and Neal Maupays continued travails, Adams represents a Premier League-proven alternative. His last 4 seasons with the Saints have yielded 25 goals, demonstrating that, whilst not a glamorous option, he can provide a consistent goal threat.
With Youssef Chermiti regarded as one for the future, and another bleak day in front of goal against Fulham, Blues are starting to get restless regarding goal-scoring. Adams would, if nothing, else offer Premier League quality back-up. Everton’s persuit of the 27 year old is, however, indicitive of where the club are shopping right now.
If £12m seems like a bargain for a striker who can score in the Premier League, it has not gone unoticed. Both top-flight and Championship clubs are sniffing around Adams. TeamTalk report that it was Bournemouth who first submitted a formal offer, but it did not meet Southampton’s valuation.
Leeds and Wolves also circling a player in the final year of his contract and the Transfer window has less than 2 weeks remaining. The Toffees will have to move fast if their interest is serious and Adams is to become their 5th signing of the summer.
