‘Done very well’: Sean Dyche full of praise for Beto after win vs Doncaster Rovers

Everton manager Sean Dyche was full of praise for new signing Beto following his superb debut for the club last night.

The £26m forward came on as a second half substitute with Everton 1-0 down against bottom-of-League Two side Doncaster Rovers.

Indeed, it was a dreadful first half performance with many Everton players seemingly forgetting what colour jersey they were wearing.

However, the second half was much improved, with Beto making the difference upfront as Sean Dyche states that the Portugal forward did ‘very well’.

Speaking with Sky Sports after the game, and transcribed by the Independent, Dyche said of Everton’s new signing: “He’s only got here yesterday, so it’s a lot to ask, really.

We only got his clearance this morning, so we’d already set the team up. I had it in my mind to put him on at half-time regardless.

He’s adapted very quickly, done very well tonight. With all due respect, the Premier League is different, but he’s shown the rawness, the pace and the effect that he can have on a team.

It gives us something different, which is what we brought him here for.”

Beto proved that he suits the style of tactics favoured by Sean Dyche

With the Toffees 1-0 down, Beto fluffed his lines with his first chance of the game but did not let the miss play on his mind as he poked home the leveller minutes later after a fine pass from Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The 6ft 4in centre-forward almost doubled his tally with a point-blank bullet-header only for the post to keep the score at 1-1.

On loan signing Arnaut Danjuma then struck the bar with a superb effort late on, before making certain second time around as he put Everton into a late lead with two minutes left on the clock.

It was an Everton performance memorable for all the wrong reasons, but Beto’s second half cameo was superb and the 2-1 win gives the Blues a much-needed boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bramall Lane.
