‘An identity’: Don Hutchinson wants to see Sean Dyche replaced by available Graham Potter

Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchinson has revealed that he would like to see Sean Dyche replaced in the Goodison Park dugout by Graham Potter.

Dyche is without a Premier League win in the opening five games of the season as Everton sit 18th in the table with a solitary point.

The Toffees’ insipid and defeatist display at home to Arsenal last weekend saw Dyche’s side barely lay a glove on the visitors, lacking any kind of identity or fight.

The Gunners hadn’t beat Everton at Goodison Park since 2017 and Everton have enjoyed two memorable victories over Mikel Arteta’s side in the last two campaigns, including a 1-0 win during Dyche’s first game as Blues’ boss back in February.

However, frustration with the Everton boss is growing, and former player Don Hutchinson believes that Graham Potter would implement an identity and play ‘some good football’.

Taking to his Twitter account, Hutchinson said: “Graham Potter for me mate. At least there will be an identity and some good football to watch.

Win or lose you gotta go to a match and try and enjoy the game.”

Graham Potter replacing Sean Dyche could depend on Everton’s financial capabilities

Potter is available following his Stamford Bridge dismissal back in April, though he has reportedly turned down approaches from both Glasgow Rangers and Olympique Lyonnais.

The 48-year-old enjoyed an impressive spell as manager at Brighton & Hove Albion, implementing an attractive style of play on a shoestring budget.

However, whether the 48-year-old would be able to replicate such form at Everton is another question entirely, and it seems unlikely that the Toffees would have the money for yet another managerial overhaul.

Should Potter find himself at Goodison Park, he would be the fourth former Chelsea manager in as many years to take charge at Everton.
