‘I’m going for’: Paul Merson predicts the outcome of Everton vs Luton Town

Pundit Paul Merson has now predicted the outcome of Saturday’s fixture as Everton welcome Luton Town to Goodison Park.

Everton’s upturn in form comes in time for some very winnable fixtures at home and after back-to-back away wins, Goodison Park deserves to see its first win of the season.

With impressive wins on the road at Brentford last week, followed by a 2-1 League Cup victory at Villa Park last night, Paul Merson says he is ‘going for’ a 3-0 Everton win on Saturday.

Writing in his weekly Sportskeeda column, Merson said: “How quickly does football change, eh?

Everton struggled to do anything meaningful in the opening weeks of the new season, but they beat Brentford in the Premier League last weekend and topped it off with an impressive win away from home against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

They have Bournemouth coming up after Luton, so Sean Dyche and co have a big chance to rack up some points on the board with a run of wins. They need to kick on and I think they’ll do just that, so I’m going for a 3-0 Everton win.”

Everton have a chance to climb PL table with Luton victory

The visitors are yet to win this season and were dumped out of the League Cup to League One side Exeter City on Tuesday evening.

Indeed, Rob Edwards’ side currently sit eighteenth in the table on one point and have lost five consecutive games in all competitions.

This is a real opportunity for Sean Dyche’s side to gain some momentum and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin back amongst the goals, confidence must be high within the Everton squad.

A win would see the Toffees win back-to-back Premier League fixtures for the first time since September/October 2022 when Frank Lampard’s side overcame West Ham and Southampton.
