Everton boss Sean Dyche has praised midfield duo Amadou Onana and James Garner ahead of tomorrow’s game against Luton Town.
Dyche insists that the pair were ‘excellent’ during Wednesday evening’s League Cup win at Villa Park and states they both have a ‘massive future’ ahead of them.
Belgian international Onana provided a superb assist for the £15m James Garner to fire Everton in front in the first half, with the pair putting in stellar individual displays in what was a superb team performance.
Indeed, the pair have only been at Goodison Park for a little over 12 months, and with both players just 22-years-old, Dyche has urged fans to be patient with the young midfielders still developing their game.

Speaking with Liverpool World, the Everton boss said: “I thought him (Onana) and Jimmy [Garner] were excellent last night, had good games at the weekend in slightly different roles and yet again, open-mindedness from two different players who are growing and maturing in the Premier League.
It’s the way the game has gone, people were remarking about it a few weeks ago. But I said: ‘If that player was €2 million, everyone would say he’s a young player see how he goes’.
But put a big price on it, the demand goes up immediately. They’re young in their true understanding of the Premier League, they have a massive future in front of them.”
Onana joined the Blues in a £33m deal from French side Lille in the summer of 2022, with Garner signing for £15m from Manchester United during the same window.
James Garner was sidelined through injury for much of last season but has settled quickly into multiple roles since his return to fitness, featuring at right-back, right-wing and his preferred central midfield.
Amadou Onana meanwhile has featured in almost every game since his move to Merseyside and has big expectations on his shoulders, but if the pair can continue their current run of form, they could indeed have a ‘massive future’ ahead of them.
