‘We fully expect’: Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants to ‘put it right’ this weekend after Luton defeat

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin insists that the Blues will look to get back on track against Bournemouth this week after Saturday’s defeat to Luton Town.

The 26-year-old states that Sean Dyche’s squad ‘fully expect’ a response to Saturday’s defeat with a ‘far better performance’ against Bournemouth.

Everton are still yet to secure a point at home this season and a 2-1 defeat to Luton Town at the weekend was a yet another humiliation.

Predictably, the Everton rallying cry has begun ahead of the weekend’s game against the Cherries, with Calvert-Lewin eyeing an immediate response to a frustrating weekend.

Speaking with the official Everton website, DCL said: “We still have another home game this week to put it right, and we fully expect to put it right with a far, far better performance.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin hopefully can make it four goals in four games

A solitary positive to take from the weekend’s defeat was Calvert-Lewin’s continued run of goals as the England international found the net for the third consecutive game.

However, the 26-year-old says that while it is a ‘great feeling’ to be back amongst the goals, he insists that there is little consolation from scoring given the ‘bad result’.

He continued: “For me to be hitting the back of the net regularly again is a great feeling, but obviously it has fallen on a bad result, so that is where my emotions are at the minute.

It is still early in the season, and it is not panic stations; I want to make that clear. We fully expected to put in a better performance (against Luton), and we expected a better result, but it just wasn’t our day.”

Goodison is owed a top performance and a win on Saturday, but Bournemouth will be no pushovers and will see the weekend’s fixture as a winnable game just as much as Everton will.

Hopefully DCL and co can deliver on the promise of a ‘far better performance’, and a win.
