‘Powerful’: Everton teenager George Morgan named amongst the most promising Premier League youngsters

Everton academy player George Morgan has been tipped as one of the brightest young players at the club.

The ‘powerful’ teenager has been listed by The Guardian as Everton’s most promising talent born between September 2006 and August 2007.

Morgan was selected as part of The Guardian’s ‘Next Generation: 2023’ overview, which selects the most promising youngsters at each Premier League club.

The Guardian states: “The son of former Wales international defender Craig Morgan has graduated through the academy system at Everton to become part of this season’s under-18s squad, who are managed by the club’s former left-back, Leighton Baines.

Morgan was born in Milton Keynes and played for England youth teams but has followed his father into the Welsh international set-up, representing them at under-17s level.

A powerful, fast centre-forward with an eye for goal, Morgan has scored consistently throughout his Everton career to date.

Last season was interrupted by a few injury problems but the right-footed striker, who models his game on Robert Lewandowski, is now back to fitness and has started the Under-18 Premier League season impressively.”

Everton fans will hope Morgan can continue impressing as he develops at the club

The 17-year-old has made four appearances in Everton’s U-18’s so far this campaign after overcoming injury concerns and could hopefully have a bright future at the Blues.

Indeed, the young forward’s physical prowess and ‘eye for goal’ will no doubt stand him in good stead for development throughout Everton’s academy and hopefully one day into the senior squad.

It has been some time since Everton’s academy produced a player to have a genuine, significant impact on the first team, with just a handful of graduates progressing into the senior squad in recent years.

Ellis Simms, who was at one time a promising academy graduate, joined Coventry City this summer after struggling to make that crucial break into the Everton starting XI under Sean Dyche.

Hopefully we will see more success from George Morgan as he continues to progress at U-18 level and it will be interesting to watch his development over the next few years.
