After an injury-stricken start to life on loan at Goodison Park, Jack Harrison has settled in positively at Everton and looks ready to kick on at the business end of the season.
The talented winger has been showing glimpses of what he’s capable of at Premier League level and the Englishman has the potential to play an important role for the remainder of the campaign.
Everton beat rivals to the punch to land Harrison on a season-long loan deal following Leeds United’s relegation to the Championship last summer. Helping the Whites avoid the drop with a goal on the final day of the previous season, Harrison was unable to stop the West Yorkshire outfit from returning to the second tier of English football last term. Arriving at Goodison Park with a hip issue, Everton finally got to see the 27-year-old in action on September 30th against Luton, who are 11/2 in sports betting in the UK, to finish bottom of the Premier League standings. In the very next game against Bournemouth, Harrison bagged his first goal for the Toffees in a 3-0 win at Goodison. Also providing an assist in that encounter with the Cherries marked a positive start for the man from Stoke-on-Trent.
Harrison showed at Elland Road what he’s capable of, especially under former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentine tactician played a major role in developing his game and the former New York City star has been reaping the benefits ever since. Scoring 21 goals in his 107 Premier League appearances for Leeds, while providing 16 assists in that time, it’s easy to see why manager Sean Dyche was keen to bring Harrison across the Pennines. In total, the winger scored 34 goals in 206 appearances for Leeds and his goals this season could well prove valuable.
With his ability to contribute goals from the right wing and not just assists, it would be little surprise to see Harrison play an important role for the remainder of the campaign. The former Manchester City academy player has electric pace, which will help Dyche’s side when playing on the counterattack in the tougher fixtures away from home. Harrison’s ability to whip in a cross will also be important, especially for the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto in attack.
Harrison’s contributing goals, especially with Calvert-Lewin’s injury history and Beto still adapting to life at Goodison, will be important for the Toffees for the remainder of the season. The winger has shown he is capable of bagging goals in flurries, as he did for Leeds when scoring a Premier League hat-trick in a 3-2 win at West Ham United in January 2022. With Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucouré being able to contribute goals from midfield, it will take some of the pressure off the strikers in the squad.
It has been a positive start for Harrison at Goodison Park and there are certainly indications he can kick on for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.
