Duncan Ferguson: ‘I’ve been thinking about writing this book for over 20 years. Now is finally the right time. Anyone who knows me, knows that I tell things straight. So this book is going to be real. I’ve been brutally honest, about the good and the hard times. I’ve got up to quite a bit of mischief, and I think readers will enjoy the colourful stories – there’s enough of them! I can’t wait for the book to be published, and to share it with readers up and down the UK next year.’

The book chronicles Duncan’s experiences: the truth about his prison time, his partying with African princes and Liverpool gangsters, his fighting with burglars, how he made and lost a fortune, and how he turned his life around through football. A story of drama and redemption, full of humour and heart, the book includes fascinating behind the scenes stories, from Duncan’s relationship with an emerging Wayne Rooney, who as a young boy wrote to Duncan when he was in prison, to on-pitch battles with players including Roy Keane, to off-pitch antics saving the likes of Mikel Arteta, the now Arsenal manager, from trouble in a nightclub back in their playing days. Duncan will relive his time as caretaker manager and assistant manager for Everton, coaching future England stars including John Stones, and working alongside storied manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The book is written with acclaimed sports journalists Henry Winter and Brian Doogan. Winter is the current Football Journalist of the Year for both the Sports Journalists’ Association (SJA) and the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA).
