Jordan Pickford shared his thoughts on Everton’s performance following their dramatic 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park last night.
“To finish with a point at Goodison, we thought we played very well tonight,” Pickford said post-match. “It’s an important result for us in the table as well.”
In a pulsating Merseyside derby, James Tarkowski’s thunderous stoppage-time strike secured a well-earned point for the Toffees. Pickford acknowledged the significance of the goal, describing it as a “fantastic strike” and highlighting Everton’s relentless determination to keep pushing until the final whistle.
“There were some great performances out there,” he added. “That edge in a derby is always crucial, and we deserved a point.”
Avoiding defeat was vital for Everton, and Pickford admitted that conceding a late Liverpool winner would have been a tough blow for both the players and the fans. Instead, the result provides encouragement as they look ahead to the reverse fixture at Anfield.
“We knew it would have been tough to take if Liverpool had won 2-1 tonight,” he said. “But we have to take the positives from this, and we know we’ve got to go to Anfield in a few weeks.”
