Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Everton are desperately trying to sign Almeria forward El Bilal Toure this summer.
Valued at £34m by the La Liga side, El Bilal Toure has been heavily linked with a move to Everton throughout the summer.
However, the Toffees face competition from Serie A side Atalanta, who see Toure as a potential replacement for the wantaway Rasmus Hojlund.
However, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers tweeted yesterday that the Toffees are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign the 21-year-old.
Myers tweeted: “Everton are in advanced talks to sign Almeria striker El Bilal Toure with the 21 year old also talking with Atalanta, decision expected in the next couple of days.”
Indeed, Romano popped up in the comments section of Myers’ tweet, with a winking face emoji, suggesting that a deal could be on the cards.
A fan replied to the Italian journalist stating: “Stop it Fab, don’t give me hope.”
Romano responded: “I’m just telling you that they’re trying mate – and they really are…”
Everton could be ready to make El Bilal Toure summer signing number three
After a slow start to the summer transfer window, Everton secured two signings within a matter of days, bringing in Ashley Young on a free transfer and Arnaut Danjuma on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal.
However, Sean Dyche is yet to spend during his time at Everton, and Toure could well be his first proper signing.
Indeed, he could be an exciting addition to Dyche’s squad, scoring seven times in 22 outings for Almeria last season, achieving a ratio just shy of a goal every three games.
Everton need to add goals to the team this summer and avoid the transfer faux pas of summer’s gone by, such as last year’s £15m singing Neal Maupay.
If it is true that a decision is ‘expected in the next couple of days’, then we shouldn’t have to wait too long to see if El Bilal Toure will become signing number three of the summer.
