Report: Everton interested in ‘incredible’ Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi

Everton are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi, though face competition from other Premier League clubs.

The ‘incredible’ 22-year-old had verbally agreed a deal that would see him move to Marco Silva’s Fulham side, though the Cottagers are reportedly reluctant to meet the £8m valuation.

Indeed, Fulham’s hesitation to secure the midfielder’s signature could allow Everton to swoop for the Chelsea player, though Nottingham Forest are also reportedly interested.

That is according to the Evening Standard, who report that the player is willing to take a significant wage cut to get his stalled career back on track away from Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, though he made just 14 league appearances in Germany, contributing one assist during that time.

Hudson-Odoi did manage to score a Champions League goal for Leverkusen however, in a 2-2 draw away at Atletico Madrid.

Everton could leapfrog dithering Fulham for Hudson-Odoi if they move quick

The midfielder was considered one of England’s brightest young talents following his breakthrough at Stamford Bridge in 2018, though his career has somewhat stalled since then.

Indeed, in the summer of 2019, Chelsea rejected a £22.5m bid from Bayern Munich for the Wandsworth-born player, with a £30m rejected the following January as the German giants reignited their interest.

It seems that Hudson-Odoi may need to leave Stamford Bridge to get his career back on track and he could be a decent signing for Sean Dyche.

There is no doubt of his attacking ability, though the 22-year-old has had little time to develop at Chelsea and would no doubt benefit from the regular first-team football he would get at Goodison Park.

With Fulham stalling over the asking price, it could be an opportunity for the Toffees to swoop in for the Chelsea star.

  1. Yeah cos that’s what we need another wing…(having said that I’m a big fan of Hodoi so if he comes in with a striker would be a good signing, loan would be smarter with obligation to buy). Che Adams has been available since the Saints got relegated, and here we sit with a few days to go before the Wolves game and still no final word on a striker. It’s a dereliction of duty by those in charge of signings, and now the club sit rock bottom of the table and shot of confidence, all the good work that Dyche did to get the team off to a good start wasted cos there was no one to finish the chances created against Fulham, and no one to play CB except Keane. Dyche needs to learn a lesson that has been glaringly obvious since the days when we had Baines and Oviedo vying for the same position – away from home play two banks of four with Mykolenko wide left and Iwobi right, or Patterson right with Holgate/Godfrey RB and for god’s sake start Braithwaite instead of Keane. Then play either someone behind whoever starts up front or a DM between the two banks, I would say the latter and the former if we go a goal down and need to score.
