Report: Everton retain interest in PSG forward Hugo Ekitike ahead of January transfer window

Everton have once again been linked with a move for PSG forward Hugo Ekitike.

The 21-year-old was linked with the Blues during the summer but decided against a move away from the Parc de Princes.

Indeed, having rejected approaches from Crystal Palace and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, the forward wanted to establish himself in PSG’s starting XI.

However, the young striker has not featured in the league since August 12th and looks increasingly likely to leave the French capital in January.

Ekitike’s departure is said to be a priority for PSG coach Luis Enrique and Everton have been constantly linked with the former Reims striker this year.

It is said the Toffees retain an interest in the Frenchman, though West Ham United and Wolves are also interested, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan.

That is according to French news outlet le10sport, who report that Ekitike is said to have embarrassed the PSG hierarchy by refusing to be a bargaining chip in their deal for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Kolo Muani last summer.

A report in 90MIN recently claimed that England is thought to be Ekitike’s most likely destination once he departs PSG, but a loan move to fellow French sides has not been ruled out.

Indeed, Olympique Lyonnais are said to be interested, as well as Lens and the forward’s former club Reims.

All noise and no substance with Ekitike to Everton rumours

This feels like one of those transfer links that pops up on a weekly basis but never comes to fruition, as Everton have been linked with the 21-year-old throughout this year, though no official approach was ever made.

Everton strengthened their forward line in the summer with the £26m arrival of Beto from Udinese and Sporting CP’s Youssef Chermiti, who moved to Goodison Park in a £15m deal.

Whether another forward will be on Sean Dyche’s January agenda remains to be seen, but no doubt we’ll be linked with Hugo Ekitike on countless more occasions between now and then.
