Everton’s new stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock looks set to host fixtures at the men’s 2028 European Championships.
The UK and Ireland’s joint bid faced competition from Turkiye who were also interested in hosting the prestigious tournament.
However, the Turkish FA have since withdrawn their bid to host the competition, meaning that the UK and Ireland’s bid is unopposed.
Euro 2028 will be contested by 24 teams across 10 venues throughout the UK and Ireland, with Everton’s under-construction stadium amongst those selected.
Indeed, Wembley will also be a host stadium, as well as Premier League grounds St James’ Park, Villa Park, the Etihad Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Elsewhere, Scotland’s Hampden Park and Wales’ Principality Stadium will also host fixtures, while Belfast and Dublin will see games played at Casement Park and the Aviva Stadium.

While the UK and Ireland’s joint bid has not officially been confirmed as successful as of yet, with no other countries currently in the running, it may be considered a forgone conclusion.
It would be a huge boost for the city to host fixtures at Euro 2028 and it would be the second time an Everton stadium has been used for an international tournament, following Goodison Park’s role in hosting the 1966 World Cup.
A UEFA spokesperson confirmed Turkiye’s decision to withdraw from the Euro 2028 bidding process and they intend on launching a joint bid with Italy to host the 2032 tournament, stating: “As indicated by the FA of Türkiye with its submission of the request for a joint bid, their bid to stage Uefa Euro 2028 is consequently withdrawn.
The award of both tournaments still requires the approval of the executive committee at its meeting in Nyon on 10 October.
The presentations at that meeting will be an important part of the process which will take due consideration of the content of the bid submissions before reaching a decision.”
