How can EFC shake off fan short-termism?

Legend Barry Horne

Player Valuation: £6m
The club has tried pretty much everything now re managers. We now have turned to a young, up and coming manager in Frank Lampard, who is now being turned on by some after some bad results

Is sacking manager after manager the answer? Or would the ability to weather bad runs, without wielding the axe, ultimately create more stability and result in some success?

Do some fans perhaps need to learn how to be more patient and resilient through bad runs?

You saying we should have kept Benitez on? and not sacked him.

The bad run started when he was appointed and has continued throughout while spending £100m and changing half the team.

Yes, sack him.

I agree with your sentiment but they have to show something, unfortunately Frank isn't.

It's not all on him though, he is just the latest symptom, but he isn't the cure.

I admire your bravery mate.

I have reserved a place in the Bomb Shelter for you.

Bring a bag of family size Frazzles and a crate of Lilt with you please.

They've not tried hiring a good manager that fits where the club is now and what it needs to improve (so don't say Ancelotti).

They try that and I think we'll find the short termism is actually mostly people just being smart enough to discern when something is broken.

And Lampard was not an up and coming manager. His arrow was firmly pointed down.

Frank is a nice guy, so was Martinez and Silva, we need some one who takes no crap, that's Moyes or dyche.

For me, the concerns around lampard are very much more related to the long term than the short term. In the short term it’s possible that he’ll muddle through to the extent that he keeps us up, or at least to the point that we still have the option to sack him later and bring someone else in who can. In the long term though, I’ve seen absolutely nothing in the 30 odd games he’s been in charge to suggest he’s a good manager and capable of more than that.

Lampards earning £6 million per year to serve up 3 wins in 16 games.

Regardless of your feelings on giving a manager time / sacking too many managers the reality is Lampards currently a waste of resource same as numerous players we've had over the years.

If a team is showing heart and progress even without wins you might have a longer leash. But this team is showing nothing. A manager change might not help, but your options to fix things are pretty limited. And the people with the power to sack Lampard are not going to admit they screwed it up and fire themselves.
