2024/25 David Moyes

Smacks of them having taken over the club but having no real plan yet.
They did want 100 days to observe our situation - they have moved fast to set up more investors with J.P. Morgan & better lower interest loans to finish the new ground off - moving losses to the new ground to cleverly relieve us from PSR problems in the future - they had to intervene over Dyche ball as we were going to be relegated the way he was planning with 10 men behind the ball -

I was against going back to DM, but in theory who ever comes in it's a hard job to turn our inept old squad around - DM is far more experienced than most - he can look at the lower leagues to snap up bargains like the Cahill & Artetas of this world - he did it with Bowen at West Ham etc - so its onwards & upwards one would hope - it's a big job probably harder when he last took charge .....

These things can happen very quickly with the right investment, signings and manager.

We had the perfect opportunity to start over and attempt something.

David Moyes was not who I was hoping would be leading that in 2025.

Nottinghamshire Forest have just gone from bottom 4 to top 4 in 6 months, not that they will stay there.

Has anyone mentioned who the other name / names ‘under consideration’ were?
A. N. Other I suspect.
Feel sorry for him , an ever present in all our ‘intensive ‘ managerial shortlists , you have to think he’ll get lucky one day .

2.5 years is still sticking in my throat a bit.

I'll absolutely accept that he's probably a sensible appointment in the short term as we are in a worse predicament than I expected us to be in this season and we do need someone to steady the ship. Easy to forget, but that's actually the same situation Moyes came in here on 20 odd years ago.

There's maybe an argument that he's a relatively safe pair of hands to rebuild a bit as well, but I was really hoping for something a bit more progressive this summer.

Still, have seen some suggestions that summer 26 rather than this summer is the one where the purse strings can be opened a bit more, so maybe that factors into the Moyes appointment as well.

He makes sense, I admit that somewhat begrudgingly. The main thing I think I have against it now is that it's an appointment which divides the fan base and we could do with some unity.

He basically only fails if we play as bad as we did under Dyche and go down or stay up because we fluke are way out of it.
Under Irvine, as his assistant - DM played some great football got us into the top 4 - only played players out of position was the main moan - Not ten men behind the ball - he also had a great record v City away back then - I am sure in January he will offload & get bargain players in who are not 30 plus in age ... he fetched Vaughn in Cheebs in - he developed youth players - Dyche just let them go or loaned them out to get kicked to bits in the lower leagues ..... & picked a Dads Army team ....
