Wallets

Unless you store everything on your phone, you need a wallet and a partner with a handbag to carry it in..
As an aside...in this near cashless society, how do you tip at cafes ...any tips through contactless don't go directly to the servers..and some goes to the system?
Bit early, I know.....international breaks eh?
Yeah it don't feel right tipping with a card. I also don't like the "suggested" fee on the machine when you know the waiter is probably not gonna see a cent of it.

Does anyone still use a wallet these days ? I know times have moved on and people are using cash less and less, but I’m old skool and still prefer to carry cash if I’m going for a night out or a day away with the mrs somewhere. I keep my cash in my pockets rather than a wallet and usually have my cash card in a safe pocket on whatever jacket I’m wearing. Odd question I know, but I personally have no use for one.
I do

I carry 10-20 of the local currency in my wallet just for that really, wherever we go.

It really depends how the restaurant does it. There's a huge Bulgarian chain (that's now in Europe, or at least London, called "Happy") that gives the tips directly to the servers even if it's by card cuz they use a slightly more complicated system to do things, but it works and the people that work there seem to like it.

Granted 99.9% of the places aren't like that at all though.

Best 'Khlav Kalash' going right?

Moved onto a card/cash holder a few years back now. Do miss the wallet but not the weight of it in my pocket. All change goes in jar, not that I get much nowadays

Ok, but where's @john jako with the question?

It's funny that you mentioned Samuel L. Jackson...

I got this as a crimbo pressie about 25 years ago:

I've had 2 wallets in-between that have both fallen apart, and there was a brief period where I decided to try using a money clip, because I saw Chazz Palminteri using one in 'A Bronx Tale' and I wanted to look like a wise guy in a Scorsese movie. That didn't last long, because money clips are absolutely useless if you have cards to carry as well! 🙄

So back to the MF wallet, and I've been using it ever since. Solely for the reason that it was well crafted! 25 years later, and it barely has a scratch on it...
Some minor wear and tear is to be expected, but it'll last me another 2/3 decades at least.
Plus, I love pulling it out at the shops when I know there's someone behind me, like some stuck up old bird that will get easily offended when she sees it! 😜
