Is it worth it at all to point out to you that this isn't how offside works, though? Whether it should work like that is a different argument. The rules as they are mean it wasn't offside, the pundits are right, and it isn't (in this case) bent.

Think James Tarkowski is saying you and the pundits are talking bollox mate.

I don't think he's read it either.
Is Moyes similarly ignorant of the rules, given his post-match interview claim that Diaz was offside? That'd surprise me.

But fiddle dee dee, as a practical matter the offside rule, like the rules around fouls and booking, are largely left to the ref's discretion and subject to the sort of human error, bias, and luck that help keep the game interesting. I still would've preferred a scoreless draw to a loss, though.

My view of the game:
Tarks was very lucky, red card all day for me.
Beto was 2 inches from having 2 goals, 1 inch offside, 1 inch from scoring off the post.
They dominated the 2nd half & we were shocking going forward. Doucoure & Harrison are so poor with their final balls & decision-making.
The goal shouldn't have stood as Diaz was offside and Tarks only went for the ball because of where Diaz was standing. If Tarks didn't deflect the pass, the ball wouldn't have ended up with the Liverpool player who put it back into our box.
Myko played well, and is a warrior for playing through the pain.
And Curtis Jones is still a bell.
This was my biggest take away as well. Not that it is nothing new, but it’s just a painful reminder every week just how piss poor they are at football. Didn’t even think Liverpool looked all that good or even interested the first half. Beto buries that chance that hits the post and him being an inch offsides, they would have rolled over. But even then, if Doucoure and Harrison had any sort of competence, more chances could have been created but instead they make terrible decisions with the ball or just give it away. I’m sure Doucoure will have a big goal in one of the games coming up but don’t let that fool any of you. He’s simply not good enough if we want to go forward as a club.

And hey hey, last night I was guessing that Myko wouldn't be fit enough to play and here he's gone and become GOT's man of the match. Fine lad.
Yes he was excellent defensively. Now we need some proper competition that can attack and it might force him to up his game more.

Good to see you posting again Charley after6 months off.....and about a year before that........and a year before that too.

Log off, go and enjoy your win 😆
A bit embarrassing supporting a team that cost £680m to put together and having to log on to the forum of another team which has spent only £236m to celebrate after scraping past them with a dodgy goal.

I wasn't able to see the game. When I saw the highlights and that moment Beto hit the post!

Normally, when you're by yourself watching, you live the emotions, but no one would know if they were observing you. But that one, I let out a "Noooo!!!"

We didn't deserve to win - but will we ever get any luck against them again? Absolutely everything goes in their favour, always. Tarkowski's challenge was not a red card, so we haven't got away with one there. The Beto goal was not shown the lines that would have immediately proven that he was offside. Diaz was offside and interfering with play. How many ridiculous red cards have we had over the years while they've got away with literal assaults from Gerrard and Kuyt?

Maybe the only thing that might, possibly even things out a tiny bit might be a sustained periods where we continue to improve and become one of the Sky clubs, but can you see that happening any time in the next decade or two? No, me neither.

Clicked into this thinking it was about the Liverpool offside goal but no. 3 of the first 4 paragraphs dominated by "Tarkowski's horrible tackle" repeated over and over. Gave up reading it. No doubt if the tackle and the goal were the other way round I'd be reading something different
