ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The thing I'll dislike the most will be the notion it's an underdog story not much different to Leicester.

Their wage bill is nearly double that of Spurs.
Spurs are more of an underdog than Liverpool, tbh.

I don't get how one of the world's biggest clubs can claim underdog status. Either you're a huge giant club or underdogs, guys, make up your minds.

Thing is they go on and on anyway, even with wining nothing they are unbearable, so this won't make too much diff, that's what I'm telling myself.
What will suck is social media, Twitter will be overrun with it, I'll have to have a major cull, same with facebook
I've had to do a bit of unfollowing on Facebook. Certain people I know are being unbearable about it.

OK that does it. Sat in my local with Pat, an RS mate when Steve another guy we know who is RS walks in, "its our year" they said to each other and everyone else. Pat then says, I am already gong to the parade, this guy has been to ONE game in his life but will cling on to the winning thing like he has been home and away for all his life

Make no mistake, this will be a terrible experience for Evertonians if/when they win the PL. They are the Establishment club, and it would be celebrated every bit as much as if England had won the World Cup. The accolades and tv programmes and documentaries wont stop coming for years. They will be presented as "the club that the whole country wanted to see crowned champions". Man Utd have always had the glamour, like some Hollywood star. The showbiz club. Liverpool, though, are the club that are presented as 'traditional' - part of the fabric of everyday English life, like the Queen, the BBC, the Grand National, Marks & Spencer, red telephone boxes, the bulldog.

It is going to come at us, wave after wave of sycophantic adulation. The longer they went without winning it, the greater the reaction was always going to be to their eventual landing of it. And after 30 years of failure, you can be sure we'll never hear the end of it. Not just through the summer, but over the next decade. Those playing it down on here are kidding themselves. The people who say 'it;'s best to get it over with' or 'I wont give a toss, I'm just concentrating on Everton'. That's a fairy story you're telling yourself, I'm afraid.
LFC - the Nigel Farage of English football. lol

The day after they beat Manchester City in 2014 there was an hour long unplanned special on Five Live with Nicky Campbell of all people letting it take over his non footballing show. There is a journalistic clamour for them to win it heightened by the back story of having not won it for so long. Back then it was exacerbated by being 25 years after Hillsborough (the link to which was made repeatedly as if it would be fate) but in general it’s because they were/are one of the recognised ‘giants’ of the game over here, of which there are only truly two due to both having a period of decades long dominance.

You can’t begrudge them their place at the top of the League. City have well and truly screwed us all.
Nicky Campbell always has a rs love in on his show with his obligatory spiel about wonderful Kenny Dalglish. Every time they get a big win or into a final. Boo!

It reminds me of those old Peanuts cartoons where Lucy keeps whipping away the ball at the last moment as Charlie goes to kick it. Charlie never learns and keeps stupidly thinking that this time it will be fine.

How can any Evertonian not think like that?

I’m having trouble actually putting some sort of scenario to this “hate Liverpool more than love Everton scenario” but here goes. The RS are gonna get relegated, we are gonna win the League going into the final game of the season. We’re playing the RS rivals for relegation. Beat them and we’re Champions and the RS stay up. Lose and we finish runners up and the RS get relegated. To me and most other Blues would obviously be for us to win. But if you hate them more than love us, it would men youd rather see them relegated? Genuinely don’t know how this can be quantified, obviously we all want them to lose, but surely not at our expense?

I know, they are the very worst, just cling on to the coat tails in the hope of successlol

Both niasse and Salah were dives.

But one still had control of the ball when he dived and one didn't.

That's why Salah got away with it.

Doesn't matter, both Salah and Niasse went down with the slightest of touches, and that is where the rule comes in, if a player has committed an act of simulation to con the ref, and in both incidents there is not enough contact to warrant them going down, so it doesn't matter Salah had control of the ball, he still dropped to the floor with the slightest of contacts, so a blatant dive.

I'll never give them credit. Here's why: they shouldn't be in existence after the manslaughter they carried out.

Them winning trophies makes a mockery of criminal acts.

Yeah I know Dave...and that cant be changed. But its a quick way of not reacting to them winning...flatlining them. Believe me its effective...Ive perfected it to an art form through the years here and its an analgesic because they still fall for it. All together now....Kopites Are …."
