Regardless, if DCL plays and we can handle their counterpress, we should have the ball a lot. When they defend they will pack the box. We need To be willing to send a lot of crosses in there and he needs to win a couple. Otherwise, trying to break them down will just create more counter opportunities and they are terrific off the counter. DCL needs to play well.

Keep thinking it will just click for this lad and he'll kick on.

I think he could do with more aggression in his game.

Definitely. He’s got the size, speed and power to be an absolute annoying beast on the pitch whether he scores or not. I also think he doesn’t press keepers fast enough.

I think DCL is a decent player, but it's too inconsistent sometimes. He's physical, makes decent runs, does ok at holding the ball up. But he's not gonna be a 20 goal per season striker - well not this season anyway I don't think. I think it's time to give Kean a start, let him play and show what he can do.

I’d don’t see DCL playing anywhere else. His skills aren’t good enough. But it’s not rare for someone like him to mature later. Silva wants three strikers that provide different things. He has that. Are they good enough? Maybe not. I think Kean is, but he’s still apparently not quite ready. Don’t think it will be long, though.
Though I’ve never really rated DCL, he has some half decent assets, so if he was kept as 3rd striker with the hope he does improve, I haven’t got a problem with that. I think your probably right I couldn’t think where else he could really play.

It really is a shame that people are labelling DCL a fraud and the like. He is a good guy with the right attitude and work ethic, and even though he's not a goal machine he is getting valuable experience and putting a decent shift in, in a team that is generally struggling for goals. He is still really young and we're still allowed to, hell we should even feel obliged to, feel hopeful about his future and development.

It’s completely 100% the clubs fault he’s played so much football with so much expectation at his age since Lukaku left. He’s had a thankless career so far.

On the flip side he couldn’t have asked for more in terms of his own development. Very few players get his number to chances in spite of his results. He should be very thankful for the opportunities he’s had.

I agree. He was chucked straight in the deep end at about 20 years old and expected to fill a void that hardly anyone could. That sort of pressure for someone so young had to take its toll and it likely inflicted damage on his goal scoring ability and confidence.

Once Kean is fit enough, DCL should have the pressure taken off him and allow him to develop in the right environment. There is definitely a player in there given the right management and coaching.

Kean's 3 years younger than him though? So if we ruined Calvert Lewin by putting pressure on him too early, why do you want to do the same to Kean?

Kean has been at Juventus playing in the CL and also Italy's national team if I'm not mistaken.
