Why on earth did we sell James Rodriguez?

Because we needed to save his wage cost. We'll have to see who we can get in January and wait until the end of the season before we'll know if it was a good move or not. He's hardly tearing it up in another top league though is he.

Our most recent displays have belied a lack of power, stamina, energy, determination and grit in the middle of the park. Granted, they've also belied an inability to keep the ball.

James certainly doesn't aid the former. I don't really recall him helping us dominante possession last season. Excellent in flashes. Plus, as others said, he really doesn't give the impression of being arsed too much.

Ugh. This again?

We sold James Rodriguez because he didn’t want to be here.

If you want to flip it, and use the Benitez didn’t like his work rate and commitment (which was reported), then maybe that should speak volumes, because none of the players give a toss, how bad must he have been?

But he didn’t want to be here. Expect to see this thread still going round in 20 years.

Considering we have four goalkeepers on the bench most matches a tough decision. Releasing him released wages but our transfer ghuru brands doesn't like shopping in Jan. His mrs must be really pleased when the sales come
