Spot on. Been saying it all season: 45 points is the realistic first task this season, then try and pile up some points from there to get top half.

This squad is a dire dogs breakfast spewed up by Brands, Koeman, Silva and Ancelotti.

We need a new type of player.
Agree.. Rafael bought in 2 players who've arguably been our 2 best players so far. Give R.afa another few windows with some money to spend.

I genuinely thought it wasn't a pen looking at the replays. Richarlison didn't think it was at the time either as he got up and tried to get the ball without claiming. And the Holgate red was a red as well so not sure some of the abuse directed at the ref is fair

It was a standard clearance. Hojbjerg didn't even put a challenge in and turned his back.

Due to how bodies and physics work there was nothing else that was going to happen there.
It was a classic case of Holgate intending to ‘leave one on him’. Studs up & ends up both feet off the ground when he makes contact. This day and age was completely reckless and gave the ref no choice but a red. If he had done anything at all to mitigate the studs first flying kick he would have stayed on.

…much, much better and very unlucky to not get deserved 3 points. The penalty might have been debatable but it certainly wasn’t a ‘clear and obvious error’. The fact they looked so many times is a clear admission it wasn’t obvious. No doubt about the reckless Holgate challenge, it was deserving a red.

I’ve long been of the opinion that PL referees should not be VAR officials. We don’t know if they might subconsciously hold grudges against individuals or teams, we know some of them love being controversial. VAR should have dedicated VAR officials.
