I disagree (I'm sure you're used to hearing that).

We all know your views on the ex Rangers, Glaswegian galoot. Hmmmmm.

I'm trying to look at the here and now and what I think we need. A seachange (Iberian or otherwise) IMO is most definitely not that.

Take our time. Gather ourselves. find some Everton spirit again.

Stop the cycle of kneejerking and looking for quick fixes / playing managerial lottery, which are complete unknowns. Or even worse going back to tried and long-tested failures.
Last time we took our time we ended up with Fat Boy

Well Benitez isn't completely blameless, especially for this season and the tactics and coaching, but you don't burn through seven managers if you don't have deep issues at a football club. You look at the managers we have had they can't all be bad, it's that it's nearly impossible to succeed with our current set up and the lack of football knowledge and the interference from above.

Let's be honest though, Martinez, Koeman and Silva all deserved to be sacked for one reason or another

In Martinez and Silva's case they were both given longer than perhaps they would have got elsewhere. Quite a few managers would have been given their marching orders after Martinez's second season, whilst Silva had a pretty notable dip in his first season but was allowed to briefly turn it around before things reached the point of no return in season 2

The issue is less the sackings and more the fact we keep hiring the wrong managers

Most of the managers have been sacked for valid reasons

We certainly aren’t ‘bobbing around in mid table’ now. I think we were bottom 4 when both Silva and Koeman were sacked as well.

So no, basically.

Which ultimately is down to poor players and bad mentality!

Koeman finished 7th and Silva 8th

Following seasons ended up in the bottom 3 - recruitment let both down (selling Lukaku, Gana & Zouma and not replacing them) but you shouldn't be seeing a massive drop off like we did in such a short space of time.

This squad seem decent enough lads but the second they hit a stumbling block their arses fall oot and roll over its happened too many times to just pin the blame solely on the managers.

You'd expect them to have some pedigree before managing Everton, though, surely?

Why? We’ve appointed managers with all sorts of pedigree and they’ve been complete and utter failures. Moyes has been our best manager of the Premier League era and his pedigree was getting Preston to the Championship playoffs.

But it is what im saying - because no manager will get top 6/7 with this squad particularly with injuries so fans will inevitably hound them when we are bobbing around in midtable.

Which comes to the crux of the issue, that even though most people know deep down this is a multi year turnaround job, not enough of them have the patience for it.

Which is why we have these ridiculous arguments coming forward that the squad is not that bad, all five managers were rubbish, given the right conditions, no fans, better coaching, the right formation, the right selection, we would be in Europe.

They’re looking for an instant fix, a silver bullet, where some tactical genius manager comes in and has us playing with freedom and we storm to Europe immediately and improve year on year. Anyone with a brain cell knows that is not going to happen.

So as soon as any manager hits trouble (which all five under Moshiri have) which isn’t hard with this squad and our injury issues, the fans want the manager out, and the players know full well Moshiri will oblige.

At other clubs it’s a dip in form, a wobble for a few games, then everyone closes ranks and gets back on track. At Everton it turns into a death spiral because we lose a few games, fans look for the easy way out (change of manager) and the gutless players are only too happy to oblige, so two losses become relegation form in the blink of an eye. Amazing then how quickly they can just snap out of it when a new face comes in, before inevitably lurching towards it again 12 months later.

We should have backed Silva properly after his first season and made it clear that players would leave before the manager. We couldn’t help ourselves though, and the pattern has just been repeated ever since.

Whoever comes in now, the players and their agents know he’s not really more important than their interests. The only one who rose above this was Ancelotti and look how they all played for him for a while when they realised that no matter what happened, the fans and Moshiri would back Carlo over when, and they had the fear of god in them that Carlo would be turfing them out. Once it became apparent his head was elsewhere then performances just completely dropped off again.

Amen

I see Tony Bellew has weighed in (no pun intended) firmly in favour of Big Dunc. Perhaps we should approach him as 'motivational coach'. Can you imagine...'Keano, Keano! Tony wants a word with you. He said he'd be waiting behind the gym...and you're not to be late!'

You are right, it’s been bad management mixed with bad recruitment.

Our midfield is the worse in the league, doesn’t matter who you pick

Keane needs binning off and replaced.

You need a plan and a strategy and we have neither
