Walsh was promoted above his station, but I said at the time what I was seeing didn’t match up with what I’d seen at Leicester. It was as clear as day manager / DoF and board were all moving in different directions and influencing decisions, rather than all being in sync or keeping out of it...

There is always a chance, but Iheanacho had always been a goal scorer. He’s said the right things so far, seems he’s realised he was a bit of a t*** at Leicester with his attitude, that’s a good start. Let’s see how it goes, he had a few good games here and he started well in Germany… then...

I really wouldn’t get carried away just yet.

He got plenty of starts here and never took the opportunity, simple as that.

If he played in the championship you’d be paying about 25m for him, as he’d kill it at that level. So that’s a positive. Who knows, perhaps he’ll come back enlightened and grown as a person, wanting to sort his career out.

All that said, he’d have still offered more than Ayoze Perez last season.
