    AI in the Workplace

What I won't argue that there is undeniable value. I see value. I don't see anywhere near the value that justifies the valuations of AI companies. And I see more pitfalls from the hype around the tech than value from the tech itself. I also am a jaded dev with many years...

    AI in the Workplace

Mmmm. I think this ignores the reality of it though. It's not actually been proven at any scale to add real value. No one is making money here, it's just investment in the expectation that this will lower costs somehow. Otherwise the investment doesn't make much sense, because there is no world...

    AI in the Workplace

I actually hard disagree. I'd always choose to hire a person over use this tool. People think, they innovate, they go beyond what you told them to do - especially if you hire well, give good context, and show the path. I'm using it because my hands are tied and I don't have the headcount...

    AI in the Workplace

There are useful things too. Once you set up a RAG system, it kind of allows for custom training your own statistical models, which can be incredibly useful and significantly improve behaviour and reduce hallucinations. It also gets a lot of benefit from clear task structure that's built in a...

    AI in the Workplace

I've been in automation/computer engineering for 20 years. AI is kind of junk, from my direct experience trying my damnedest to actually make it useful. Hallucinations are not something that are solvable, and they are incredibly destructive. It cannot do your job unless I could have already...

    Computer games.

Oxenfree 2 just came out. Never played either of them, but a good friend is working at that studio now, so I'll plug Oxenfree 2 on that basis alone. Somehow had never heard of the first one.

Match Thread Everton v Arsenal - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

Game started at 4:30 AM local time. I saw from about 30 minutes on, but I have weird sleep habits.

    2021/22 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Pretty sure that would result in overtraining and aggravating the injury. Rest and recovery is an important aspect of getting back to fitness. Who cares what he does whilst resting?

ESPN bids for US Premier League rights

Yeah, fair - we also cut cable years ago and have been watching that bill slowly inch back up as new services come online. We have both Hulu+ and Peacock to watch the Prem, so I can watch NBCSN/NBC on Hulu and whatever spillover is on Peacock. I would prefer to see that unified to a single...

ESPN bids for US Premier League rights

Doesn't Peacock show all the matches that aren't on cable? Peacock is rad because it has weird sports like biathlon and athletics competitions on it...with no commentary. It's intoxicating. I loathe ESPN and have overall been happy with NBC's service....not super excited about the potential...
