The best player I've ever seen in royal blue, he had the lot, tireless, hard, niggly, great vision, deadly finisher and above all, a winner's mentality, Bally didn't take seconds from anyone.

That day in school the news broke about his transfer … blimey it was terrible. Absolutely punishing for Blues. Probably on second to them beating us in the cup semi in ‘71.
As many have said, he was brilliant. The KDB comparison by @Joey66 is a good one.

Bally and big Joe were my heroes when I was a lad.
I remember him coming back to Goodison right at the end of his career, he was about 36, received a standing ovation and never missed a pass.
RIP Alan Ball one of the best ever players to wear the Royal blue.
