New Everton Stadium

Eventually, there should also be a route along the front that will reach Jesse Hartley Way, which meets Waterloo Road before the Waterloo Dock apartments.

Emphasis on should by the way, as it's likely a good few yars down the line.

That’s the thing. A lot of the solutions are still 5 years away. They’ve been talking about the stadium for 10 years. Spades were in the ground 4 years ago, and the dredging started before that!

There has been plenty of time for the council to play their part, and they haven’t

Yeah, weight issues apparently - doesn’t shock me, mind. Walk over it with a group of 10 or so and you feel it in the wind.

Anyone who is able to walk into town will have better luck going up Derby Road
I remember walking over that bridge when the dock market used to be and fear for me life. I can see that being a parliamentary issue eventually, chronic oversight on so many levels here, travel and safety. Someone will end up hurt in one way or another and it will be on their heads. I am a bit sympathetic- but this “they have know for 4 years”, shout is getting long in the tooth already.

The Tory government had the council by the goolies - the council was certifiably corrupt! Why isn’t anyone remembering this???

Mate, I completely agree. The issue is, whether we like to believe it or not, is that a skint council put their heads in the sand due to our on and off-field troubles.

They didn't know if the stadium would be finished (even though it's never been behind schedule) or if it would be full to capacity, and ignorance saved them money.

They are now right up to their necks because the local infrastructure simply isn't ready. The issues with the bridge and the kettling is very worrying.

Use Great Howard Street? That's only going to cause more issues with traffic and congestion in small, narrow side streets.

It was a fantastic walk from town and the fanzone has so much potential. The external features are world class.

I can't help but think the internal design is lacklustre from the view from the south stand.

I'm sure it'll be a different kettle of fish when it's a full house and a night game, but the two tiers and and smaller north stand really underwhelmed me.

Here’s the thing though Bry, was Headbolt worth 80m investment when that and then some could have gone to infrastructure in town?

It saves me 6 minutes walking to Headbolt than Kirkby. Great. That would have been better suited to town.

They could have also gone to central government with a case for bigger investment. They didn’t. They went to Liverpool Baltic instead - 100m on a station to add 30 seconds from Cressington.

Tories being in charge or not, the council have let their own city down.

£80m? 🥲 I think any investment in Kirkby is a good thing. But agree 100% it looks like it could have been used much better.

Investing in L32 and L33 is great, but a new station we didn’t need. Don’t get me started on St Modwens lack of movement on the towny either.

But the stadium is a massive project where progress would have benefitted the city as a whole. The council will have no choice but to do stuff when private investment comes in around the place, but they’ll batting off the back foot then.

Just got back from the test event. Stadium is absolutely stunning from outside. The plaza is amazing and will be even better when they finish Everton Way etc. There wasn't a bad seat in the house and you could already hear how the noise will be locked into the stadium. The sound system is so loud as well. The food choices were great and the queues went down fairly quickly. My only gripe would be the concourse on the lower south and west isn't wide enough and it was absolute chaos before and at half time to move around. If you were sat in those stands you would be better walking around to the east concourse which is much larger. I hope they make the concourses a bit more Everton as well.
loads of room in east lower, got served quickly at half time etc
