Doping in Premier League

It will 100% happen. The clubs who have got their act together will be giving their players supplements which are preformance enhancing but not banned. They will always be two or three steps ahead and by time it's banned they'll have moved on to something else.

There will also be players who take it upon themselves to take stuff. It will be a huge temptation for those at lower levels. Especially those who want to make the jump up to a better league or a better contract.

Football/Fifa/uefa/premier league won't be bothered though. A drug scandal will only tarnish the brand.

I'm a big cycling fan and I know it has a problem. Other sports too, Athletics, tennis etc. But the amount of people (big football fans) who tell me cycling is a joke because of it have their heads firmly in the sand.

Where there's money there will be people looking to cheat. It's human nature.

When are most goals scored? In the last 10 minutes. Having that edge at the end of a game is a huge advantage. Look at the RS.

Similar to cycling it’s probably a case that everyone at the top level is doing it to some degree. The problem comes when there’s one or two who have clearly taken it beyond what anyone else is doing thus distorting whatever level playing field there was. Think Vingegaard in 2023 time trial. That’s when it becomes a problem because sport just ain’t fun any more when there’s an obvious super advantage to one team.

At the top level of any sport the margins should be millimetres. The 100 metres final the fastest men int he world should only be split by fractions of a second. When one is miles ahead of everyone else questions should be asked as to why. It’s the same in football if one team is 20 points ahead of the rest. Why are they still running hard after 95 minutes when the rest are knackered? Why can they go a whole season barely dropping a point when everyone else struggles to not drop points in every away game.

I’m absolutely convinced Klopp and Pep pushed the envelope way further than anyone else in Europe was during the last 7 years or so, it was obscene at times.

Playing devils advocate, why is it even illegal tho?

I mean, what the discussion above seems to be concluding is that, in practice, there is little impediment.

Assuming the best resourced clubs will also be so when it comes to performance enhancing anything, what actually is the difference if we’re talking about them buying up the best players versus the best doctors and lawyers and anything else?
because of the damage it can do to people if it went completely unregulated.

This was done a while back , this fella is an ex roid head so he knows…

All the clubs do this testing. The FA do it for the England team.

Why do people take PED's? The main reason is they want to train harder. When it comes to Football no drug is going to make you learn tactics or how to play as a team. Give you the ability to pick a pass or how to control the ball and stick it into the corner of the goal.

City and Liverpool have not won trophies because they are doping. They have won them because they are a decent team.

That's the reality of the situation.

Wasnt it a well known secret that a top Spanish team was doping during the 00s? Pretty sure I read that one of the Dr involved got done but they ordered all of the blood bags he had to be destroyed. Apparently his clients were football teams and tennis players.

Since Moyes has come back we are the team that has done the most running and recorded sprints in the Premier League.
Aye, Davey’s “Placenta Parties” are legendary. He could have got Dele Alli fit given half a chance.

What he can’t do is make DCL bother his arse and stop moping about missing his move to Newcastle. He’d have won a cup now if he’d have been allowed to go….

The big question here is why it's not working for our players all gassed after 60 minutes and taking ages to come back from injury.
perhaps we are not prepared to push the boundaries like some are (or dont know what substance/technique is being used by city/RS), as they know they are untouchable. We are very touchable, as is evidenced by the PSR fiasco

Disagree, of course you can't use PEDS, to turn a group on Sunday League players into Guardiolas Barca. However if, your style of play is entirely based on wacking ball up for Mane or Salah to run on to, doping can work. Klopp sides, don't compare to great City, Chelsea, Arsenal and United sides of the past in terms of quality and they weren't reaching same points tally as RS undrr Klopp. We managed to outplay "decent Liverpool side" despite all having countless injuries this season. Most of RS goals come through Salah, if he got injured they'd be screwed.

Under Klopp the Liverpool team always seemed to drop off in the run up to world cups / Euros. Could be a coincidence, but maybe they were tailing off their doping programme before different/unknown testing at international tournaments.

Liverpools Sakho got caught it was ok because the drug wasn't on the banned list at the time, what more evidence do you need , cheating with drugs is fine as long as its new and wada doesn't know about it.

Also miraculous their drop in form, happened before world cup in Qatar in 22. Also huge drop in form, before Euros in 2021. Also mysterious departure of Buvac, who was supposed to behind a lot of Klopps success, who was once wanted by top clubs, yet he's hasn't done much since leaving RS.

Salah is world class.

Your issue is that you can't admit that Liverpool have been a decent team. You would rather live in a make believe world that the Liverpool players are taking magic drugs and that is the only reason for there success.

Salah is world class, Macallister is a great player, there's plenty of RS players I can acknowledge have been great players, Gerrard, Alonso, Fowler, Macherano, Suarez as well. Gerrard and Alonso were 1000 times better, than any of their midfielders under Klopp. Mane was nowhere near as good, as Henry, Suarez or Ageuro. Of course the fact Barca rested all their players before 2nd leg at Anfield, and Liverpool didn't rest any, after playing Newcastle isn't suspicious at all.
