Probably been done many times before but what about an all time combined Merseyside born XI? And to anticipate the usual complaints about Kirkby, Birkenhead, Ellesmere Port etc, I am using a very liberal definition of Merseyside here.

….ha, ha, I’d probably have Andy Rankin ahead of Albert Dunlop if Bootle counts. When I got my first season ticket on the front row of Upper Gwladys St in the early ‘60s, Albert Dunlop’s Mum, Gertie, sat close by.

…if you’re looking across the Mersey @John BCN then you’d have to mention Dave Hickson and John Willie Parker. Hickson told me on a number of occasions how highly he rated Parker and said if the England side wasn’t picked by Committee he’d have definitely been an international regular.

You could also throw Derek Temple from Dovecot into your list, terrific striker of a ball and often played centrally.

Jonjoe Kenny still playing for Hertha Berlin in the 2nd tier of German Football if that counts? Always amazes me how Berlin doesn't have a credibly huge club (they get good crowds but aren't a big club within Germany or Europe).
1 FC Union Berlin are 13th in the Bundesliga while Hertha are 12th in Div 2.

Must admit I never heard of Union until attending of all things the Wagner opera Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg last December in Berlin.

During a fight scene between rival gangs of apprentices the director had one side waving blue and white Hertha flags and the other side with red and white of Union.

I had to Google who 1FC which was on the latter's flags were!!
